Did you know that Equal Exchange organizes community projects with our farmer partners, beyond our trading of delicious products? Historic underinvestment in small farmer agriculture means that purchases alone—even on fair trade terms—often don't go far enough to meet the needs of farmers. To acknowledge and respond to this problem, for over a decade, Equal Exchange has intentionally directed additional project funds to farmer co-ops that we trade with, specifically to build stronger co-op structures, productivity, quality, and resiliency.
