Roastery Operations Supervisor

Based in West Bridgewater, MA

Job Description

The focus of this position is to support the daily operations of the production teams. The Roastery Operations Supervisor (ROS) implements a variety of training programs: Health & Safety, QC, SQF, and will also lead PM activities on plant equipment and facilities. They will work closely with team leaders in this process. Other activities will include process improvement, quality control feedback, relationship management with vendors, and project management. This is a challenging environment that requires a proactive communicator who is able to transition between widely different work environments and tasks during the course of a single workday. Job requires frequent lifting, twisting, and bending.

  • Employment Status: Full-time, Worker Owner track employee

  • Hours: Variable

  • Starting Salary: $60,000-$64,000 per year, exempt employee

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of supervision experience 

  • 3-5 years’ production experience in coffee or manufacturing 

  • Computer literate 

  • Ability to build and lead teams 

  • Mechanical/electrical abilities highly desired 

  • Ability to solve complex problems 

  • Ability to make decisions with limited information 

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment 

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in information processing

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Supervise roasting and packaging staff 3-4 individuals 

  • Conduct performance evaluations 

  • Maintain QC, GMP, and HACCP protocols for production processes

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal labor and environmental laws for production processes and staff 

  • Be proactive in making process improvements 

  • Continual learning and training of self and staff 

Operations:

  • Perform duties of Roasters and packaging machine Operators as necessary

  • Monitor and coordinate daily operations of coffee roastery 

  • Locate and purchase necessary tools, inputs, and services

Maintenance:

  • Oversee and plan routine and extraordinary production machine maintenance 

  • Plan and report short and long term capital requirements 

  • Accountable for vendor relationships

Other:

  • Attend staff meetings 

  • Participate in cooperative meetings and processes 

  • Other tasks as assigned by management

90 Day Goals:

  • Ability to operate one packaging line 

  • 50-75 hours roasting experience 

  • Basic competence in Netsuite functions 

    • Issue PO’s 

    • Issue Work Orders 

    • Build and complete work orders 

    • Inventory Transfers within WB

  • Working knowledge of EE personnel policies
